Our editorial standards

Trust starts with being clear about what we know and what we do not.

Flared creates practical health information to support tracking and conversations with qualified healthcare professionals. We do not diagnose, prescribe or replace medical or mental-health care.

01

People first

We write for women trying to understand an experience, prepare for an appointment or ask for support. We use plain language, avoid shame and acknowledge that symptoms and bodies differ.

02

Visible sources

Health claims are checked against reputable Australian public-health, clinical or specialist organisations. Each guide links directly to its sources and shows when those sources were last reviewed.

03

No diagnosis by content

Symptom lists are prompts for discussion, not self-diagnosis tools. We distinguish general education from personal medical advice and direct readers to professional care for assessment.

04

Mental health is health

We include emotional and social impact without suggesting that physical symptoms are imagined. Crisis information is shown where a reader may need immediate support.

05

Useful, not exhaustive

Our guides focus on what may help someone notice patterns and communicate clearly. They do not attempt to cover every cause, test or treatment and they should not be used to delay care.

06

Corrections and review

We date our guides, revisit sources and update material when guidance changes. Clinical-review credits will be named on the relevant page when an independent reviewer has assessed it.
